The integrated instrument- workshop for musicians
A meeting point between music and dance. A movement workshop designed for musicians-preparing for a constantly changing world. ’The integrated instrument” is a workshop offering a place and space for musicians to get to know their instrument from a new point of view- through their own bodies. The main idea is that a musical instrument has more to offer besides its known functional use. The workshop invites participants to discover a new meaning, a perhaps hidden purpose, and a different way of relating to the instrument physically and emotionally. The participant will have the chance to explore and expand horizons, and understand and strengthen his intimate connection to his instrument of choice. The workshop will be based on movement research tasks, with and without the instrument, aiming to develop different skills concerning the art of performance. As a result one will be better prepared for a rapidly changing world, where one has to demonstrate different skills and creativity beyond the traditional musician “job” description. Each participant will be given the chance to reveal his imagination and newfound skills to create a personal dimension of expressing and being. Method of work The workshop is composed in 3 parts: 1. Introduction to” The integrated instrument”: Experimenting with composition and choreography will be introduced in order to emphasize the connection between music and dance. The first part will be dedicated to a physical warm up, emphasizing posture, body awareness, mobility, and dynamics of movement. 2. The journey begins: A process of self-observation and revision will take place. Themes of trust and communication with ones own instrument and with other participants- in both physical and musical ways- will be explored. 3. Into the horizon: Based on the learned tasks and exercises from the previous chapters, the participant will create a work, expressing it through movement and sound, while being encouraged to keep exploring and further developing. Bio: The Israeli dancer and musician Oren Lazovski lives mainly in Berlin for the past 8 years. He has danced with different companies and projects around Europe and abroad. A.o. Staatstheater Nürnberg, Bat Dor dance company Tel-Aviv , Deutsche Oper Berlin,Internationnal Dance Theater Amsterdam ,Zeynep Tanbay Projcy Istanbul, to name a few. Oren has presented his creations at La biennala di venzia, “the marathon of unexpected 2012” , MARMEO Berlin open stage , Barnes crossing festival Köln, MAXIM GORKI schauspiel studio and TISHCLEREI Deutsche Oper Berlin. “My experience has showed me that this two form of arts are not different at all – au contraire – they complete and enhance each other. Israeli dancer & musician Oren Lazovski has lived mainly in Berlin for the past 8 years & has danced with various companies and projects around Europe and abroad. A.o. Staatstheater Nürnberg, Bat Dor dance company Tel-Aviv , Deutsche Oper Berlin,Internationnal Dance Theater Amsterdam ,Zeynep Tanbay Projcy Istanbul, to name a few.
